The BVI is home to some of the best kiting locations in the world. Off Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, for example, the sport has taken flight with the help of the billionaire’s endorsement of the sport. In 2011, Sir Richard offered up one of his two private islands–Necker Island–where the first Kite Jam BVI was held. The annual competition brings some of the biggest names in the high-flying sport to our tranquil waters. The event will take place for its third time off Necker sometime next spring.

Event founder and organizer Charlie Smith can do his fair share of shredding, and in his self-produced video, he shows off some of his skills in the North Sound and Anegada. He also brags a bit about living in one of the coolest places in the world, with one of the most well-recognized billionaires in the world as a landlord. Well played, Charlie. Well played.
