Hello,
I didn’t know that BVI got hit quite often by hurricanes .
I am very sorry for devastation happens 2017
All islands were in ruins, very dangers places.
This is not very save place to stay for retirement with family.
We have colder climate in canada  but stable ground, no crazy storm, no volcano.
I’m  working  in Alberta close to Slave Lake where more and more people from all over the world coming and stay for long time or go to BC garden of Canada or Manitoba like me where is very affordable and flat, you can  see your neighbor mile away so you are never alone.
Choice is yours but beautiful place like BVI is good for short vacation, only.
Thank you.
