My husband is going to join me next week as my dependent. While I am waiting for his arrival, a friend told me about a potential work for him. given that the offer is agreeable, should we not process his dependent status and apply for the work permit instead? Will there be a chance that the work permit wont be approve since he has initially applied as my dependent?

If your husband enters as a dependent he must remain a dependant for a year before he can change his status. He cannot come as a dependant and seek work immediately.
If he chooses to accept a job before he comes, he will not be able to remain in the territory while the permit is in process.
