Moving to BVI from Canada, what should I do with my car?

Hello! Bonjour!
I am moving to BVI from Quebec (Canada). Should I bring my car or buy one when I arrive? What is the best thing to do? 
I take the opportunity to ask what type of vehicle is recommended (small car, 4X4).
What about public transport in BVI (ferries, taxis, buses)?
